The Society of St. Pius X (SSPX) has announced the names of the four priests who will be consecrated on July 1.

The announcement was made in a press release published earlier today.

Those who will be raised to the ranks of the episcopacy include:

  • Father Pascal Schreiber, 53, rector of the SSPX seminary in Zaitzkofen, Germany.
  • Father Michael Goldade, 45, rector of St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary in Dillwyn, Virginia.
  • Father Michel Poinsinet de Sivry, 42, superior of the Benelux District.
  • Father Marc Hanappier, 36, professor of theology at the Society’s US seminary.

Speculation was rampant on social media earlier this year as to which priests were going to be consecrated. Some, including yours truly, thought American Fr. Daniel Themann and Écône seminary rector Fr. Bernard de Lacoste would be chosen.

Sources close to the Society seemed to think the rumors surrounding Themann — who is of the group’s more liberal wing given his denunciation of the SSPX “Resistance” in the early 2010s — were getting out of hand so, they informed Ad Vaticanum earlier this month that he was not a finalist.

Many Catholics are now asking: who are these priests? Are they widely known within the SSPX? What are their views on global politics, the Vatican, and other pressing issues?

Answers to those questions will become apparent in the months and years ahead. Niwa Limbu, reporter for Ad Vaticanum, spoke to me the Society’s bishops-in-waiting.

It was always a given that an American priest would be consecrated. Society faithful in the US have donated millions of dollars for the construction of the Dillwyn, Virginia seminary and The Immaculata Church in St. Marys, Kansas.

Ordained in 2004, Goldade received the majority of his formation under the late Bishop Richard Williamson, who was rector of the US seminary from 1983 until 2003, when he was reassigned to Argentina.

A Society priest who spoke with Integrity explained that Goldade is a bridge between the different generations of priests formed before and after Williamson. He also said that not only was Goldade exposed to the ideas of 20th century Irish priest Fr. Denis Fahey (1883-1954) while in seminary but that he is familiarizing the young men who are under his care presently with them as well, as evidenced by a recent seminary newsletter.

Fr. Fahey is best known for his many books and writings on economics, naturalism, the Kingship of Christ, and the Jewish question. SSPX priest Fr. Michael McMahon delivered a talk on Fahey at a Catholic Family News conference in 2025.

The Society priest expressed support for Goldade as he assumes his new role, noting that he expects him to “carry on the anti-liberal and counter-revolutionary fight waged by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre.”

In February of this year, Integrity contributor Riaan Van Zyl wrote about his hopes for the new Society bishops. In his essay, he said the following:

The Church does not need bishops who speak vaguely of 'attachment to Tradition.' She needs bishops who openly reject Vatican II as the defining moment in which modernists became schismatics by inventing a new religion, and who recognize the conciliar and post-conciliar chaos as a sustained assault on Catholic doctrine, liturgy, and moral teaching.

New bishops must be:

- Explicitly anti-Vatican II, not merely 'critical of abuses,' but opposed to the council’s novelties in principle.

- Uncompromisingly hostile to the doctrinal mess that followed — the ecumenism, religious liberty, collegiality, and synodality that have almost completely destroyed the visible Church.

- Clear-eyed about the reality of the 'new church,' the Novus Ordo religion that is not simply a different expression of Catholicism but a counterfeit standing in opposition to it.

- Willing to suffer marginalization, condemnation, and excommunication, rather than seek legitimacy from men who have forfeited moral and doctrinal authority by their actions.

Unfortunately, and I need to say this, any Traditional cleric or prelate who still seeks validation from Modernist Rome has already conceded too much. Apostolic succession is meaningless if it is used to perpetuate confusion rather than to defend the Faith.

I encourage all Catholics to pray for Frs. Scheiber, Goldade, de Sivry, and Hanappier as they prepare for their new responsibilities.
