The Muslim invasion from Morocco into Spain that has been unfolding since July 30 has been riddled with curious coincidences, concerning anomalies, and strange reactions.
Between 40,000 and 60,000 (some put the number at 80,000) “migrants” have flooded into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta.
According to reports, the surge consisted predominantly of young men. Many observers have noted that they did not appear to be victims of hardship but instead looked healthy and triumphant as they waved at cameras, flashed the victory sign, and laughed, all while some physically assaulted their new Spanish “neighbors.”
Video footage has also shown that Moroccan border police did little to prevent the mass influx, with some footage showing them literally holding open the gates.
A military march
It did not take long for chaos to erupt, as unconfirmed reports told of an ensuing crime spree, including the desecration of a Christian cemetery.
Spanish Catholic news outlet Infovaticana reported that, “According to the German agency NIUS, the migrants that the army was to move from the first-host camp to the beach for return resisted violently, thwarted the operation, and marched in groups to the city center.”
The outlet also said that they chanted an Islamic profession of faith — “La ilaha illallah, Muhammadur Rasulullah” — that translates to “There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is his prophet.”
Retaliation for opposing Israel?
Many commentators have remarked on the curious timing of the invasion.
The mass influx comes only weeks after U.S. President Donald Trump ordered an immediate halt to all trade with NATO ally Spain on July 8, after tensions escalated over Spain’s resistance to NATO defense spending and its refusal to participate in the Iran war.
Trump said at a recent rally that Spain “will learn” for “not behaving nicely.”

Furthermore, as recently as April, Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez called for “the EU to sever its association with Israel,” and in March condemned Israel’s attacks on Lebanon. Spain also withdrew its ambassador to Israel. Previously, Sánchez accused Israel of genocide, prompting current Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu to threaten the country with needing to “pay” a price.
Of course, Jewish watchdog organizations couldn’t allow an opportunity of this magnitude to pass without crying “antisemitism.”
The Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) was quick to rebuke “antisemitic conspiracy theories.”
On its website, it reported that, “An analysis by CAM’s Antisemitism Research Center (ARC) found that 173 posts from 119 influencer accounts on X recast a European border emergency as a Jewish plot, reaching an estimated 103.1 million people in 72 hours.”
Leo bows before their ‘dignity’
Unlike the Catholic popes and knights of yore — who not only defended Christendom against invading Muslim hordes but often took the fight to them — Aleteia (and others) are reporting that synodal leaders are expressing solidarity with the invaders.
“The Diocese of Cádiz and Ceuta, led by Apostolic Administrator Bishop Ramón Valdivia, responded immediately. In a statement published on July 30, the diocese expressed ‘deep concern regarding the gravity of the events and the particular vulnerability of so many people affected by this situation,’ and announced that all parish collections this weekend in Ceuta will be directed entirely to the Diocesan Office for Migrants,” Aleteia said.
Leo XIV himself stated in a address to migrant organizations in June during his visit to the Canary Islands in Spain, “Dear migrants, before saying anything else to you, I want to bow before your dignity.”
During this past Sunday’s Angelus prayer, Leo astonishingly remarked that he “follow[s] with concern the alarming situation in Ceuta, asking God, through the intercession of Our Lady of Africa, that solutions of peace, stability, and justice may be found,” as if he was completely perplexed by the very chaos that he and his predecessor repeatedly encouraged and defended.
Numerous memes have been created on social media noting how Leo essentially invited the hostile actors to the continent.
In light of the fact that some estimates put the invading Muslims between 60,000 and 80,000 “fighting-age young men,” it is interesting to note that the Spanish Army has only between 70,000 and 75,000 active service members, excluding other branches, which bring the total to about 120,000.
If there ever was a counter-Reconquista for the Moors, this is surely it.
